Heather and Terry Dubrow are speaking out about the drama surrounding the sale of their Beverly Hills home.

“We lost $5.8 [million]. I’ll tell you why,” Terry, 66, shared on the Wednesday, August 27, episode of iHeartRadio’s “Between Us” podcast. “We bought the supplies for the guest house. We did a lot of stuff to the property. We occasionally stayed there. … If you’re in Los Angeles and you sell a house that’s over $10 million dollars, you have to pay 5.5 percent of the gross to Los Angeles.”

Despite buying the house for $16.1 million and selling the space for $16.5 million, the couple assured fans they didn’t break even — especially after paying all the teams and putting plans through.

“It was a gigantic fail,” Terry added. “So if you don’t like us, congratulations. We bombed. We got killed on that house.”

Heather, 56, and Terry purchased the 8.3-acre house in 2023. The mansion, which was previously owned by the late Italian film producer Dino De Laurentiis, has five bedrooms and nine bathrooms, a spa, formal dining room, breakfast area, office, nine-foot ceilings and 15 parking spaces.

In March, news broke that Heather and Terry had listed the estate for $25 million. At the time, Heather revealed that Million Dollar Listing stars Josh Altman and Josh Flagg were helping the couple sell the residence.

“How many Josh’s does it take to sell the best 8.3-acre tennis court estate in Beverly Hills?” she wrote via Instagram.

Earlier this month, reports surfaced that Heather and Terry ultimately sold the house for $16.5 million — $8.5 million less than their original listing price.

“If you have to do a remodel, if you want to build a home, you really have to vet your builders,” Heather explained on her podcast. “You must get a budget up front. … You have to stay firm, and you have to do your own research.”

During a July episode of The Real Housewives of Orange County, Heather explained that she and Terry decided to sell the estate due to costly renovations and the discovery of asbestos.

“It’s hard when you know you’re walking away from a project to put one more dime in it,” she said.

Heather also shared that the amount of people living in the house factored into the decision since her and Terry’s older children — twins Max and Nick, 21, and Kat, 18 — no longer reside with them, leaving only their youngest child, Ace, 14.

“First, I thought of this as a failure because I can’t imagine not seeing the project through the end,” she said. “But the more I think about this house, the more I realize how not viable it truly is for our family. … The universe is telling us to go elsewhere.”

During the same RHOC episode, Heather showed off the renovations made to the home before it was listed, including fresh white paint and new floors.

“It looks more presentable,” she noted.

During the RHOC season 18 premiere, which aired in July 2024, Heather speculated that she and Terry would spend $32 million in renovations on the home, with “$2 to 3 million” in landscaping costs and “just over $2 million” on the guest house. Of their plans, she shared at the time, “This house, we’re going to bring down to the studs.”
