Prince William and Princess Kate Middleton stepped out for a rare public appearance with their three children.

William and Kate, both 43, were pictured driving Prince George, 12, Princess Charlotte, 10, and Prince Louis, 7, to a Sunday, August 24, church service near the grounds of Balmoral Castle in Scotland.

William sported a navy suit with a light blue tie, while Kate opted for a black blazer and showed off her lighter hair color. Their children were spotted riding in the back seat.

William’s father, King Charles III, was also pictured arriving to the Sunday service, riding in a separate car with his wife, Queen Camilla.

William and Kate’s kids have been on their summer break from school. The Wales family, except for Louis, last made a joint appearance at the Wimbledon tennis championship in July.

Kate, who is in remission after a battle with cancer, even received a standing ovation during the family’s outing.

“The ovation at Wimbledon was unexpected,” a source exclusively told Us Weekly, noting the Princess of Wales was “really surprised and felt humbled by it.”

“She felt really good, and it reinforced her recovery and that everyone is rooting for her,” the insider told Us. “She doesn’t follow the press, so to get a real-world reaction was incredibly fulfilling for her.”

Kate announced in March 2024 that she had been diagnosed with an undisclosed form of cancer. The princess subsequently took a step back from her public-facing duties to undergo chemotherapy treatment.

“You put on a sort of brave face, stoicism through treatment. Treatment’s done, then it’s like, ‘I can crack on, get back to normal,’ but actually, the phase afterwards is really, really difficult,” Kate said of her treatment during an appearance at Essex’s Colchester Hospital earlier in July. “You’re not necessarily under the clinical team any longer, but you’re not able to function normally at home as you perhaps once used to.”

She added, “Someone to help talk you through that, show you and guide you through that sort of phase that comes after treatment, I think is really valuable. It’s a roller-coaster. It’s not smooth, like you expect it to be, but the reality is you go through hard times.”

Kate revealed in January that she is in remission.

“It is a relief to now be in remission and I remain focused on recovery,” she wrote via Instagram. “As anyone who has experienced a cancer diagnosis will know, it takes time to adjust to a new normal. I am, however, looking forward to a fulfilling year ahead. There is much to look forward to. Thank you to everyone for your continued support.”
