
The drought conditions across the state have worsened.
According to the U.S. Drought Monitor, severe drought conditions have developed throughout midcoast Maine and some of Hancock County.
A moderate drought spans much of the central regions of the state, while abnormally dry conditions have been observed throughout Piscataquis, northern Hancock, Washington, Penobscot, Franklin and Somerset counties and southern Aroostook County.
Maine’s fire danger remains moderate throughout the Allagash and North Maine Woods, high throughout most of the state and very high in the greater York County region.
The earliest likely rain will move in at the beginning of next week, according to National Weather Service forecasters. Anticipated rainfall amounts are uncertain at this time.
