Sydney Sweeney pays attention to comments on her campaigns.
In her new WSJ. Magazine cover story, published on Wednesday, August 20, Sweeney, 27, opened up about chatter regarding a campaign with Dr. Squatch. In the soap ad, it was suggested that the men’s product be infused with her own used bathwater.
“I think it’s important to have a finger on the pulse of what people are saying, because everything is a conversation with the audience,” she said. According to Dr. Squatch, the soap sold out within seconds.
“It was mainly the girls making comments about it, which I thought was really interesting. They all loved the idea of Jacob Elordi’s bathwater,” Sweeney added, referencing her Euphoria costar’s viral Saltburn scene with Barry Keoghan, in which Keoghan, 32, drank Elordi’s used bathwater.

When asked if she was thinking strategically about her campaigns, Sweeney responded, “Yes. Very.”
Sweeney’s cover story comes weeks after she was making headlines for her controversial “Great Jeans” ad with American Eagle, which she declined to comment on with WSJ. In the ad, she boasted about how “great” her “genes” are, sparking an online conversation about eugenics.
