John Stamos is still close with his former Full House costars — and he’s happy to report that his friend Dave Coulier is doing well after his cancer battle.
“Dave and I talk a lot,” Stamos, 62, exclusively told Us Weekly in his cover story interview. “You know, we lost Bob [Saget], and I couldn’t bear losing Dave, so I’ve been with him a lot during this cancer journey of his.”
According to Stamos, Coulier, 65, is “100 percent back to Dave” after he was diagnosed with stage III non-Hodgkin lymphoma last year.
“It’s great to see that the treatments work,” the General Hospital alum told Us. “And it’s great to see him out there talking about it, to help other people that are going through the same thing.”
Coulier revealed his diagnosis in November 2024, which he received after seeking treatment for what he thought was an upper respiratory infection, resulting in swollen lymph nodes. He underwent multiple scans after one lymph node grew to the size of a golf ball.
“Three days later, my doctors called me back and they said, ‘We wish we had better news for you, but you have non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma and it’s called B cell and it’s very aggressive,’” he told People at the time. “I went from, I got a little bit of a head cold to I have cancer, and it was pretty overwhelming. This has been a really fast roller-coaster ride of a journey.”
Five months later, however, Coulier revealed he was in remission after a biopsy confirmed that he was cancer-free. “One of the few times in my life when ‘zero’ has been a great number to hear,” he told Parade in March.

Coulier, Stamos and the late Saget remained close after Full House wrapped in 1995 and later shared the screen again in Fuller House, which ran from 2016 to 2020. (Saget died in January 2022 at age 65.)
Stamos told Us that Saget was “always the connector” for the Full House cast, who are all on a group text that also includes Candace Cameron Bure, Jodie Sweetin, Scott Weinger, Lori Loughlin and Andrea Barber. After Saget’s death, “it took us a long time to realize that Bob wasn’t on there,” Stamos said. “I still can’t believe that he’s gone. You just gotta love people when they’re around.”
He added, “Bob never left anything off the table. He always told you he loved you. Always told you he was proud of you, always said good things, and that was a lesson that I’ve learned too — tomorrow’s never promised. You just never know. You got to just be in the moment and be there with these people when you can.”
Stamos has taken that message to heart, making sure he stays connected to his other Full House costars.
“We always show up for each other when we can,” he told Us, noting that he recently appeared on Sweetin and Barber’s podcast with Loughlin, 61. “Lori’s my neighbor. She lives down the street.”

When Full House first started, Stamos thought it was corny — so much so that he considered quitting the show before it even aired — but he now embraces the positivity that the show has brought to so many fans.
“I get why Full House is still around. I never got it before,” he said. “And also having a kid, now I realize how important that television show is. … Yeah, some of the jokes didn’t hold up. And there’s some stuff that’s corny, and maybe one or two too many hugs here and there, but it holds up because the themes are universal. It’s sort of needed now more than ever, right?”
