A Gray woman, who died after being hit by a car while trying to cross a road in New Gloucester, was the co-owner of a local brewery.
The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office said 64-year-old Stacy Stratton died after a car driven by a 49-year-old from Lewiston hit her while she was crossing Lewiston Road about 8:40 p.m. Saturday.
Driver impairment isn’t considered a factor in the crash.
According to a post on Birchwood Brewing’s Facebook page, Stratton was a co-owner.
“Stacy had a gift for making everyone feel welcome. If you ever came into the brewery, chances are you were greeted by her warm smile and kind spirit. She truly loved what she did and loved the community that grew around her. Birchwood will never be the same without her, but we will keep her spirit alive in everything we do here. Please keep her family in your thoughts as they navigate through this heartbreaking time. We ask for your patience here at the brewery as we try to push through as she would want us to do,” Birchwood Brewing said in a post.
The brewery will be closed until Wednesday.
