Prince William and Princess Kate Middleton’s planned move has reportedly led to two families vacating their homes.

According to a report from People, published on Sunday, August 17, the royal couple’s upcoming relocation to Windsor Great Park’s Forest Lodge in England saw “two families” that formerly lived near the residence “asked to vacate their homes ahead of the royal family’s move.”

The news was first reported on by the Daily Mail on Sunday.

Us Weekly has reached out to a representative for the royal couple for comment.

Prince William and Kate Middleton to Move to New Home Later This Year

According to People’s reporting, the two families were asked to move on “earlier this summer” and “have since departed in preparation” for William, 43, and Kate, also 43, to relocate their three children, Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, 9, and Prince Louis, 6, from their current Adelaide Cottage in England.

The outlet noted that no eviction notices were issued and the families have “moved to similar or better housing within the Great Park, with everyone remaining in Crown Estate properties.”

According to the Daily Mail’s initial reporting, the families were “not expecting” to be asked to move.

A spokesperson for Kensington Palace confirmed to Us on Saturday, August 16, that “the Wales family will move house later this year” after living in Adelaide Cottage for the past three years.

Kate Middleton Reveals Reason Behind Family’s Windsor Move

The Sun reported that a royal source claimed William and Kate are hoping for the move to provide a “fresh start” in light of Kate’s cancer diagnosis, subsequent treatment and remission.

According to the Daily Mail, the new residence is an eight-bedroom “mansion” built 300 years ago. Features reportedly span a “chandelier-lit ballroom, tennis court, Venetian windows and extensive grounds.”

The outlet added that “new shrubs” and “privacy screens” have already been installed at the property in the lead-up to the couple’s relocation.

The new beginning will come amid Kate’s ongoing return to public duties. Slowing returning to work, Kate’s recent appearances have included public-fronting outings at the Wimbledon tennis tournament this past summer and the annual Trooping the Color parade.

Kate Middleton Filmed Video About Cancer Diagnosis at Windsor Castle

Kate stepped back from her public role last year after she was diagnosed with an undisclosed form of cancer, announcing the diagnosis in March 2024. She underwent chemotherapy, which finished up in September 2024, and revealed in January that she was in remission.

In an Instagram post shared with fans on January 14, Kate acknowledged her medical team and The Royal Marsden hospital in London for “looking after me so well during the past year.”

The post continued, “It is a relief to now be in remission. And I remain focussed on recovery. As anyone who has experienced a cancer diagnosis will know, it takes time to adjust to a new normal.”
