Hugh Grosvenor, the Duke of Westminster, has reportedly been mulling over whether to ask both Prince William and Prince Harry to be his infant daughter’s godparents.
Grosvenor, 34, is “still considering” whether to ask Harry, 40, according to a Saturday, August 16, report from The Times of London. The outlet reported that friends of Grosvenor and his wife, Olivia Henson, claimed that they “have not yet made a final decision” as to who will be their child’s godparents.
According to The Times, William, 43, is also likely to be godfather. (William and his wife, Princess Kate Middleton, previously chose Grosvenor as a godparent to their son Prince George, now 12.)

Grosvenor and Henson welcomed their first baby in July.
“The Duke and Duchess of Westminster are thrilled to announce the birth of their baby daughter,” the married couple told Hello! in a statement. “They have named her Cosima Florence Grosvenor, who was born in London today.”
The statement added, “Both the Duchess and Cosima are doing well. The Duke and Duchess now look forward to spending this special time together as a family.”
News broke in March that Henson was pregnant.
“The duchess is expecting a baby in the summer,” a spokesperson for Grosvenor and Henson said at the time. “The couple are delighted with the news and are very much looking forward to starting a family together.”
Grosvenor and Henson tied the knot in June 2024, eight years after he inherited his dukedom. Hugh’s father, Gerald Cavendish Grosvenor, previously presided over the Westminster duchy until his death in 2016.
Hugh, who is the godson of King Charles III, has been a longtime friend of William’s. The Prince of Wales even served as an usher in Hugh’s wedding to Henson.
William attended Hugh and Henson’s wedding solo while wife Kate, 43, underwent chemotherapy to treat an undisclosed form of cancer. Kate revealed in January that she is in remission. Harry, while also a longtime pal of Hugh’s, did not attend the regal nuptials amid his own family drama.
Harry and William have been estranged since 2020, when the Duke of Sussex left England and moved across the pond to California. (Harry and wife Meghan Markle stepped down from their duties as senior working royals at the time.)
“Harry left a large gap in William’s world, not just personally but practically,” a source exclusively told Us Weekly in a June cover story. “The whole idea was for Harry to work hand-in-hand with William and to divide and conquer during William’s monarchy. So Harry not being there is tough. He feels deserted by his brother — not that he would ever say that out loud.”
Neither Harry nor William has publicly addressed the alleged falling-out.
