Sullivan’s Crossing ended on a shocking note — but how long do fans have to wait until season 4?
As most viewers already know, Sullivan’s Crossing initially premieres on CTV and later in the year on The CW. Netflix licensed the series in Canada and the U.S. in April and July, which helped the show find an even larger audience. In July 2025, Sullivan’s Crossing was renewed for a fourth season — 10 episodes — which is expected to premiere in 2026.
Based on the book series by Robyn Carr, Sullivan’s Crossing follows neurosurgeon Maggie (Morgan Kohan) as she finds herself in legal trouble and returns to her hometown in rural Nova Scotia to reconnect with her estranged father, Sully (Scott Patterson).
Three seasons later, Maggie realized that Sullivan’s Crossing is her home after falling in love with Cal (Chad Michael Murray). But in typical Sullivan’s Crossing fashion, the third season ended on several cliffhangers after Maggie’s secret husband, Liam (Marcus Rosner), showed up.

Sully, meanwhile, left Sullivan’s Crossing for a trip with his girlfriend. At the same time, Frank (Tom Jackson) and Edna (Andrea Menard) were thinking about stepping away from the town altogether.
There was also Lola (Amalia Williamson), who was preparing for her romance with Jacob (Joel Oulette) to turn long-distance. Sydney (Lindura) and Rafe (Dakota Taylor) were facing their own obstacles when it came to their different views on marriage.
“There’s never a dull moment at Sullivan’s Crossing,” showrunner Roma Roth told Collider in July. “A romance drama series needs to have push and pull between your characters … we’re going to have a pretty big shoe drop at the end of the season that we’ll get to see play out in season 4.”
Roth said she wanted season 3 to reflect the theme of “second chances.”
“These characters have been through a lot over two seasons,” she shared. “We wanted to give them an opportunity to explore love. I think that’s what we actually even called one of the scripts.”

Roth concluded: “Because we’re dealing with a lot of emotional issues we wanted to have some lightness and levity this season, by giving people a reprieve and having them have some hope and positivity in their lives. Continuing the journey from the head to the heart—with emotion and drama and a few surprises.”
Before Sullivan’s Crossing had its resurgence on Netflix, Patterson, 66, exclusively told Us Weekly about how excited he was to join the show.
“It’s always exciting to go to a new place with a new project [and] with new expectations. Everybody’s lovely. The work is deep and the collaboration is real. You’ve got a built-in audience with [Gilmore Girls] and now we’ve got Robyn Carr’s book audience,” Patterson shared in October 2023. “So it’s kind of exciting to come into something that’s kind of established — has already an established fan base — and I can bring mine in. They can join forces and watch the show together and compare notes.”
