

A shelter-in-place order has been issued in North Windham as law enforcement searches for a person involved in a shooting on Friday afternoon.
The initial shooting occurred at around 1:55 p.m. Friday, according to Maine State Police Lt. Aaron M. Turcotte.
At around 4:16 p.m., an emergency alert was sent to cell phones by the Citizen Alert System. According to the alert, the shooter was last seen near the Windham and Raymond town line.
The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office issued the shelter-in-place alert for the area from Route 302 from Route 85 in Raymond to Whites Bridge Road in Windham and surrounding side streets.
People are being asked to stay indoors, keep their doors locked and report any suspicious activity.

A section of Route 302, starting at the Landing Road, has been closed during the investigation.
