Rachel Brosnahan‘s husband Jason Ralph caused a stir by “liking” a shady Instagram post seemingly about his wife and her Superman costar David Corenswet.
The controversy erupted after Ralph, 39, was encouraged by a fan to “stand up” for himself and “leave” his wife if she’d developed real-life chemistry with Corenswet. (Brosnahan, 35, and Corenswet, 32, play lovers Lois Lane and Clark Kent in the DC Comics blockbuster.)
The Instagram comment read: “It’s genuinely sad to see your career being tucked out to be remembered as a cuckold because your wife couldn’t handle herself with her co-actor. Like bro.. let’s have some self love and stand up for yourself man, leave her to be with him if she wants that much at the end of the day.”
Instead of directly replying to the message or simply ignoring it, Ralph — an actor who starred opposite his wife in The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel — surprised fans by “liking” the strange comment.

Some fans felt that Ralph disrespected his wife and her Superman costar by interacting with the message.
“Sorry but if u cant handle dating an actor/actress then dont date/marry one, what is up with ppl,” one TikTok user wrote, with another agreeing: “Sorry but most people who marry actors know what they gotta deal with.”
One commenter questioned why Ralph would have engaged with the post at all, writing, “I think regardless whether he feels that way or was highlighting how absurd it is, there was no need to engage with it. It is disrespectful to Rachel and through interacting with it, fans are now speculating etc about it. Whether or not the bts [behind the scenes] is bad, I think he made it very public and supported a very negative comment about his wife.”
“It’s just not fair to either of them, i feel for both of them in this situation and i hope people stop commenting on it bc it’s none of our business to begin with. let them live their lives,” a TikTok user argued.
Others felt that Ralph’s true intention may have been misconstrued by an ambiguous social media “like,” with someone pointing one: “Have we not considered that he liked it because it’s absurd?”
“I truly think this is him liking it because it’s absurd, not because he’s like….hurting deeply,” one commenter theorized, with another insisting: “I know David and his wife, and while I don’t know Jason and Rachel personally, this tracks with Jason’s social media vibe overall!”
There was a third subsection of Superman fandom who seemingly preferred not to wade into the controversy at all.
“I’m just going to be minding my business,” a fan quipped, while another felt similarly: “I am not doing Superman drama now, or ever.”

Ralphs and Brosnahan have been married since 2016. Brosnahan first confirmed that she’d tied the knot with her Marvelous Mrs. Maisel costar in 2019, though she later clarified that they’d actually been married for several years.
“I’ve been quite private about my personal life for a few reasons. The first being that it’s just that: personal,” she told People in 2019. “Jason and I also noticed early on that, while we are both the leads of successful television series, he has almost never been asked about our relationship while I have been asked on almost every red carpet I have walked in the last two years. We both find this double standard problematic and frustrating and opted to redirect those conversations to our work.”
Corenswet wed Julia Warner in March 2023 and the couple welcomed their first child, a daughter, in 2024. The Superman actor revealed in 2025 that he found out about Warner’s pregnancy around the same time as he was cast in DC’s blockbuster.
“She told me that she was pregnant two days after I found out I was going to screen test for Superman,” Corenswet told People in June 2025. “For the first several months of her pregnancy, as is sort of protocol, we weren’t telling anybody. We had these two quite huge secrets that we just had between the two of us. And that was intense.”
