The dog that went missing after a shooting and home invasion in Glenburn earlier this month has been reunited with her humans.
The 9-year-old English mastiff Rosie lost about 18 pounds during her time in the wild but otherwise is in good health, CBS affiliate WABI reported Wednesday.
Rosie’s disappearance came after a shooting on Danforth Drive in Glenburn, where at least three men wearing ski masks — George Overlock, 36, of Carmel, Raphael Cupidon, 22, of Massachusetts and a third as-yet-unidentified person — shot up a woman’s home and vehicle about 3:10 p.m. on Aug. 3, the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office has said.
No one inside the home was hurt.
That same afternoon deputies found the fleeing suspects in a truck on Union Street in Hermon, where Overlock, who was allegedly driving, then tried to flee from police, leading them onto Davis Road in Bangor and then Finson Road.
On Finson Road, the truck slowed down, and Cupidon and another person jumped out and fled on foot while the vehicle headed back to Glenburn, the sheriff’s office has said.
Deputies continued following the getaway vehicle, which Overlock abandoned and then allegedly broke into a Lake View Road home to hide from police. When deputies entered the home and tried to arrest him, Overlock allegedly resisted, according to the sheriff’s office.
During that break in, Rosie escaped. The homeowners were away when the break in happened.
Police dogs tracked Cupidon, who fled on foot through woods off Finson Road, to a hiding spot under a mobile home.
Police executed search warrants in Bangor and Hampden, seizing half a kilo of drugs and two handguns.
Officers continue to search for others involved in the shooting, which remains under investigation.
Overlock has been charged with aggravated drug trafficking, possession of firearms by a prohibited person, refusing to stop for law enforcement, aggravated criminal mischief, criminal speeding, driving to endanger, refusal to submit to arrest or detention, burglary, operating after habitual offender revocation and violating conditions of release.
Cupidon has been charged with aggravated drug trafficking and refusal to submit to arrest or detention.
Both men made their initial appearances in court last week.
