You never know what hidden gems you might discover on Amazon Prime Video.

In August 2025, there are several great movies on the platform that you either never saw or forgot about.

A Korean erotic thriller, a zombie rom-com and an underrated college comedy are our recommendations for August 2025.

If you’re a Prime Video subscriber, why not check out one of these great movies, which feature stars like Nicholas Hoult and Emma Stone? Check out these recommendations, curated for you by the Watch With Us team.

‘The House Bunny’ (2008)

Led by perpetually underrated actress Anna Faris, The House Bunny doesn’t get the love it deserves. The kooky college comedy follows Shelley (Faris), a Playboy Bunny who is forced to leave the Playboy Mansion. When she becomes the house mother to a D-list sorority, she changes the lives of the girls who live there — and learns to see her own inner beauty.

3 Prime Video Movie Masterpieces You Need to Watch in August 2025

Full of great one-liners and physical comedy, The House Bunny features a lovable cast that includes Colin Hanks, Emma Stone, Kat Dennings and Rumer Willis. Plus, it’s full of valuable beauty tips. For example, remember to highlight your eyes — they’re “the nipples of the face!”

‘The Handmaiden’ (2016)

An intense, intrigue-filled erotic thriller, The Handmaiden is based on a 2002 novel called Fingersmith, which takes place in Victorian England but is reimagined here in Japanese-ruled Korea. It follows Sook-hee (Kim Tae-ri), an orphaned pickpocket who takes part in a plan orchestrated by Count Fujiwara (Ha Jung-woo) to help him marry a wealthy heiress and steal her inheritance.

Sook-hee takes a job as a handmaiden in the home of the heiress, Izumi Hideko (Kim Min-hee) — but the two women form a deeper bond than Sook-hee could ever have expected. Full of shocking twists and double-crosses, The Handmaiden is an electrifying movie that will leave you on the edge of your seat.

‘Warm Bodies’ (2013)

If you’re looking for a lighter take on the zombie genre, check out Warm Bodies. It follows R (Nicholas Hoult), a zombie who yearns to feel connected to his dead humanity. In this world, zombies experience the feelings and memories of the brains they eat — so when R eats Julie’s (Teresa Palmer) boyfriend’s brain, he ends up falling in love with her.

6 Must-Watch Drama Movies on Prime Video (August 2025): ‘The Master’ and More

Much to Julie’s surprise, she falls for him too — and their connection might have the power to change everything. A creative take on zombie lore that’s sweet and surprising, Warm Bodies is an underrated fave among the Watch With Us team.
