Question 1 on the November ballot, the so-called Voter ID question, is really about much more than Voter ID.
It includes eliminating two days of absentee voting, it prohibits requests for absentee ballots by phone or family members, it affects the voting availability for seniors and those with disabilities, and limits the number of drop boxes, which may affect those who are working or live in rural areas.
This measure seems to be really about limiting voting, a right for every citizen that should be made easier rather than harder. If you want to read more about it you may do so by going to the Save Maine Absentee Voting Coalition.
Because of the restrictions to absentee voting, I urge you to vote “no” on Question 1.
