BELFAST – Belfast Flying Shoes presents a special outdoor community contra dance on the Armistice Footbridge in Belfast on Tuesday, Aug. 19 with Chrissy Fowler calling. Local musical duo John Pranio and Toki Oshima will lead the BFS All Comers Band (all musicians invited to join!)
This program, produced in partnership with the Belfast Parks & Recreation Department and the City of Belfast, features fiddle tunes, participatory dance for all ages and the bright summer sunshine sparkling on the waters of the Passagassawakeag River, Belfast Harbor and Penobscot Bay. What could be finer?
Use City parking on the west side and walk over the water to the dancing on the east side of the bridge. The band warms up at 6 p.m. and the dance starts at 6:30 p.m., continuing through the sunset hour at 7:34 p.m. and into the evening. All are welcome to this free program. Free will donations will support the Belfast Flying Shoes nonprofit and its community-building music and dance programs.
