
Maine State Police said the death of a Waldoboro woman reported Saturday morning, Aug. 9, was a homicide.
The victim was 53-year-old Levern A. Kelley. She was found deceased at her residence at 506 Genthner Road in Waldoboro. She had lived at the home since 2022, according to town assessment records.
A call to the Waldoboro Police Department was made at 8:25 a.m. Aug. 9 by a person who was checking on the woman’s wellbeing. Waldoboro Police requested assistance from the State Police.
The Maine Medical Examiner conducted an autopsy Aug. 10 and ruled her death a homicide. The specific cause was not released by the state.
On Saturday, Waldoboro Police Chief John Lash was parked at the entrance to the long driveway leading to the home. A state police mobile crime lab and other state police vehicles arrived during the day.
Maine Public Safety spokesperson Shannon Moss confirmed late Saturday that the Maine State Police’s Major Crimes Unit Central was investigating the death in Waldoboro.
“Detectives and evidence response technicians have been on scene all day investigating the circumstances surrounding the death. There is no known danger to the public,” Moss said.
