
A Benton woman allegedly shot a man in the neck at the end of a dayslong bender.
Hallie Hotham, 20, has been charged with domestic violence elevated aggravated assault, domestic violence aggravated assault and domestic assault, according to the Kennebec County Sheriff’s Office.
Hotham and 19-year-old Izeck Spaulding of Benton had been in a dayslong bender of alcohol and cocaine. They began arguing and trading insults at a Unity Road home early Friday morning, and after a friend arrived, Spaulding was about to leave around 3:03 a.m. when Hotham raised a 9 mm Glock semi-automatic pistol and shot him in the neck, the sheriff’s office said.
Hotham and the friend rendered first aid to Spaulding until first responders arrived.
Spaulding was taken to a Waterville hospital and then airlifted to Maine Medical Center in Portland, where he was undergoing surgery Friday morning.
Hotham was taken to the Kennebec County Jail in Augusta.
