After the success of Spider-Man: No Way Home in 2021, fans have been anxiously awaiting the fourth movie in the beloved series.
In October 2024, Tom Holland, who has played Spider-Man in six Marvel films, confirmed that the movie would be filming in the summer of 2025.
“Next summer, we start shooting,” he shared during an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon at the time. “Everything’s good to go. We’re nearly there.”
Holland noted that the movie, which is set to be released in July 2026, is “super exciting.”

Later that month, Holland gushed about how excited he was to read the Spider-Man 4 script with his then-girlfriend, now fiancée Zendaya. (Zendaya has appeared as Holland’s love interest MJ in the previous three films. The pair got engaged in January 2025 after several years of dating.)
“We have a creative and we have a pitch and a draft, which is excellent,” Holland said on an episode of the “Rich Roll” podcast. “It needs work, but the writers are doing a great job. I read it three weeks ago and it really lit a fire in me. Zendaya and I sat down and read it together, and we at times were bouncing around the living room. Like, this is a real movie worthy of the fans’ respect.”

What Is the Title of ‘Spider-Man 4’?
At CinemaCon in March 2025, Sony revealed that the fourth movie will be titled Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
“I know we left you with a massive clip hanger at the end of No Way Home, so Spider Man: Brand New Day is a fresh start. It is exactly that. That’s all I can say,” Holland said in a video message played at the Las Vegas event. “That’s all I’ve been allowed to say, and I’m well over the hump of giving away spoilers, so don’t be worried. I’m not going to do that today.”

While an official synopsis for Spider-Man 4 has yet to be released, producer Amy Pascal has hinted about what will happen in the upcoming film.
“We have to deal with the fact that he decided he was going to give up being Peter Parker, and he was gonna focus on being Spider-Man, because being Peter Parker was too hard,” she told Deadline in December 2024. “So that’s what the movie is about.”
In 2021’s Spider-Man: No Way Home, Peter Parker’s (Holland) attempt to erase the world’s memory of his identity backfires, breaking the multiverse and bringing in past villains. With help from MJ (Zendaya), Ned (Jacob Batalon), and two alternate Spider-Men Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield, he fights to cure them. In the end, Parker chooses to let everyone forget him — including MJ — starting over alone.

Which Actors Are Coming Back?
Holland is set to return as Peter Parker, and Variety reported that both Batalon and Zendaya are set to reprise their roles as Ned and MJ, respectively.
Who Else Is In ‘Spider-Man 4’?
According to Deadline, Sadie Sink is set to join the sequel as an unknown character. No other cast members have been confirmed. The Bear’s Liza Colón-Zayas was also cast in an undisclosed role.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day will also feature Jon Bernthal, Mark Ruffalo and Michael Mando reprising their roles as Frank Castle/Punisher, Bruce Banner/Hulk and Mac Gargan/Scorpion, respectively. Charlie Cox is expected to reprise his role as Matt Murdock/Daredevil as he appeared in the previous Spider-Man film.

Sony dropped a first look of Holland rocking the new Spider-Man suit in August 2025. The outfit resembles a more classic Spidey suit compared to the one Holland has donned in the past. The red and blue suit featured the iconic black spider logo with black webs around the top.
