QUOTE OF THE DAY

“We … want to keep students coming and not have the big story be, ‘What’s happening?’ It’s nothing like what’s happening at a Harvard or Columbia, and we don’t want to be pulled into that.”

— University of Maine President Joan Ferrini-Mundy, who has seen the school lose funds over the past months due to policies backed by the Trump administration.

TODAY’S TOP STORIES

A former lawmaker is planning 40 manufactured homes in Augusta, with room for hundreds more. Former state Sen. Matthew Pouliot recently bought property that sits north of Western Avenue between Leighton and Prescott roads.

A Bangor syringe exchange service shut down shortly after opening. Needlepoint Sanctuary received a notice from the city of Bangor shortly after it believed it found a permanent location on Ohio Street.

Northern Light Health and Inland Hospital in Waterville are facing a lawsuit from a woman who says a surgeon removed her bladder instead of an ovarian cyst. Emily Mitchell of Skowhegan claims the surgeon failed to follow proper safety protocols during what should have been a routine surgery.
