
The University of New England campus in Portland was put on temporary lockdown Saturday as police searched for a man who fired gunshots.
Portland police said the call came in at 4:38 p.m., reporting multiple gunshots in a wooded area off Bishop Street, according to a press release.
In addition to locking down the campus, area residents were told to stay indoors.
The suspect was taken into custody around 9:30 p.m. Police said they expect to release more information about the incident on Sunday.
