A building fire on Folsom Drive in Newport late Saturday night prompted a multi-agency response, according to the Newport Fire Department.
The fire was reported at 11:38 p.m., and the call was upgraded to a second alarm by the Penobscot Regional Communications Center. Firefighters from neighboring towns responded.
Firefighters quickly gained entry to the building and contained the blaze before other units arrived. Damage was limited to part of the building’s exterior and a section of the attic.
The department credited the fast response of full-time and call members, along with mutual aid support, for preventing further damage. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
