One of the country’s oldest fairs kicks off tomorrow, and will be held through this Sunday and July 31 through Aug. 2.
The Bangor State Fair will be held at the Cross Insurance Center at 515 Main St., with animal events being held inside and the midway set up across Bass Park. Parking is available near the Cross Center on a first-come, first-served basis, and street parking is available throughout the neighborhood.
Entrance tickets cost $10 to $15, depending on the day you attend. There are also options to purchase group rate tickets, although those must be purchased in advance at the box office.
Seniors will be able to enter the fair for $5 tomorrow. Entrance for children under 5 is free for both weekends of the fair.
There will be a number of food trucks at the venue, as well as novelty food items such as smoked turkey legs and footlong hotdogs at the entertainment tent. Both alcoholic and non-alcholic drinks will be available at various locations on the midway.
There also will be a variety of entertainment, including more than 15 bands, the Paul Bunyan Lumberjack Show, magic shows, wrestling, movie nights and more.
The demolition derby returns this year on both weekends of the fair; truck pulls, split between the afternoon and evening in an effort to drive attendance; and a classic car show.
Various show and stock animals will be shown at the fair throughout both weekends with appearances from area 4-H clubs, along with pedal tractor pulls.
