Scottie Scheffler showed up and showed out at the Happy Gilmore 2 premiere just one day after his British Open victory.
Scheffler, 29, attended the Monday, July 21, event in New York City to celebrate his cameo in the upcoming Adam Sandler sequel. The pro golfer kept it casual for his appearance on the red carpet, opting for a simple white polo and khaki slacks.
The trip was a last minute one for Scheffler, who was across the pond in Ireland just one day prior to compete in The Open Championship. He ultimately won the tournament by four shots over Harris English to lift his second major trophy of the year.
“The Claret Jug has made its way to the Happy Gilmore 2 premiere,” the official PGA Tour account wrote via X on Monday alongside a snap of Scheffler holding the trophy on the red carpet. (The prestigious jug is a gold medal for winning the Open, and a direct replica of the Claret Jug to keep alongside a purse of $17 million.)

Scheffler portrays himself in Happy Gilmore 2, which is a direct sequel to Sandler’s 1996 comedy. The movie, which hits Netflix on Friday, July 25, follows Happy Gilmore (Sandler) as he comes out of pro golf retirement in hopes of winning enough money to send his daughter, Vienna (Sunny Sandler), to a European ballet school.
Although Scheffler is the No. 1 professional golfer in the world right now, he’s been candid about his desire to spread his wings beyond just the game. Earlier this month, the athlete admitted there’s a lot more to life than racking up tournament victories.
“It feels like you work your whole life to celebrate winning a tournament for, like, a few minutes,” he told reporters on July 14. “It only lasts a few minutes, that kind of euphoric feeling.”
Scheffler, who shares son Bennett with wife Meredith, specifically mentioned his win at the CJ Cup Byron Nelson in May, explaining that he waited his “whole life” to win the tournament only for the moment to quickly pass.
“I literally worked my entire life to become good at golf to have an opportunity to win that tournament,” he said. “And you win it. You celebrate. Get to hug my family, my sister’s there. It’s such an amazing moment. And then it’s like, ‘OK, now what are we going to eat for dinner?’”

Scheffler continued, “Life goes on. Is it great to be able to win tournaments and to accomplish the things I have in the game of golf? Yeah, I mean it brings tears to my eyes just to think about because I’ve literally worked my entire life to become good at the sport and to have that sense of accomplishment, I think is a pretty cool feeling. To get to live out your dreams is very special.”
Happy Gilmore 2 premieres on Netflix Friday, July 25.
