SKOWHEGAN — The aroma of freshly baked bread, the warmth of community and the artistry of Maine’s finest bakers will come together once again at the Maine Artisan Bread Fair, set to take place 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, July 26 at the Skowhegan State Fairgrounds, indoors and out, rain or shine.
Organized by the Maine Grain Alliance, the Bread Fair is a beloved annual event that celebrates the craft of artisan baking and the rich grain traditions of Maine. The event draws thousands of visitors from across New England and beyond, and features a vibrant marketplace of bakers, millers, grain growers and food artisans.
This year with free parking, and a $5/person entry fee (kids under 12 free), the Bread Fair is more than just a farmers’ market for bread. Attendees will enjoy:
- A stunning variety of freshly baked artisan breads
- Wood-fired pizza, pastries, bagels, and other baked goods
- Local cheeses, jams, oils, and beverages to pair with your favorite loaves
- Tabletop linens, pottery, and bread wraps to enhance your purchases
- Hands-on activities for kids and families
- Live music, 4 educational demos, and opportunities to learn from master bakers
- A strong focus on local grain economies, sustainability, and community building
“This fair is a true celebration of what’s possible when local ingredients, skilled hands, and passionate people come together,” said Tristan Noyes, director of the Maine Grain Alliance. “Whether you’re a home baker, a seasoned professional, or simply a lover of good bread, there’s something here for everyone.”
The Maine Artisan Bread Fair began in 2007 as part of the annual Kneading Conference and has since grown into a summer tradition of its own. This year’s fair continues that legacy, connecting people to Maine’s grain economy and the joy of real, nourishing food.
