FKA Twigs filed documents to dismiss the explosive lawsuit she previously filed against her ex-boyfriend Shia LaBeouf over alleged battery, Us Weekly can exclusively report.

According to court documents obtained by Us, on Monday, July 21, Twigs, 37, asked the court to dismiss all claims against LaBeouf with prejudice, meaning she cannot refile the claims in the future. The singer’s attorney Bryan Freedman executed the paperwork.

Back in 2020, Twigs sued LaBeouf for sexual battery. She alleged he exposed her to an STD during their relationship that ran from 2018 to 2019. In court documents, Twigs claimed that LaBeouf slammed her against a car during one incident and attempted to strangle her.

LaBeouf denied all allegations of wrongdoing. The case has been dragging on for years, with the parties arguing over what they have to turn over to the other party.

Freedman and Shawn Holley, LaBeouf’s lawyer, released a joint statement reading, “Committed to forging a constructive path forward, we have agreed to settle our case out of court. While the details of the settlement will remain private, we wish each other personal happiness, professional success and peace in the future.”

In 2024, LaBeouf revealed his ex was seeking $10 million in damages in the case.

Shia LaBeouf’s Lawyers Slam FKA Twigs’ Distress Claim: She’s ‘Thriving’

LaBeouf and his legal team were shocked by the number. His attorney argued that Twigs (real name Tahliah Barnett) had continued to work and release new music in 2020 and 2021.

“In addition to music, she is starring in the upcoming film The Crow. She also has a modeling campaign for Calvin Klein and appeared in numerous magazines, including Elle and British Vogue,” his lawyer noted.

At the time, Twigs’ lawyer responded publicly, stating, “While my client was led to believe that LaBeouf was on a path of taking responsibility and working a program, it is clear he intends his pattern of continuing to abuse the victim.”
He added, “Any suggestion that FKA Twigs’ emotional distress should be discounted because of any career success is preposterous and discounts the idea that victims should have hope for the future. Logically, without the trauma that she has suffered, I can only imagine the level of success she would have achieved by now.”

In a separate filing, Twigs’ lawyer opposed LaBeouf’s argument that the singer was thriving due to her career accomplishments.

“[LaBeouf] argues that if [Twigs] is working and making income, then she does not suffer from emotional distress. This is simply not true,” the filing read. “A person’s ability to make money, particularly how much money, is not correlated to a person’s emotional distress damages. If [LaBeouf] would like to know whether [Twigs] is or is not working, and the extent of work, then [Twigs] can provide this information without revealing her finances. However, [LaBeouf’s] assertion that [Twigs] has somehow waived her financial privacy rights by seeking emotional distress damages is not supported by any case law.”

FKA Twigs Cancels U.S. Tour Dates and Pulls out of Coachella

The exes were going back and forth over the production of text messages last summer. The case had had little public movement since then until Twigs dismissed the case.

The trial in the case was initially scheduled for last year but was postponed for various reasons. No new trial date had been set. The court docket now shows the case as being dismissed completely.
