The viral “kiss cam” scandal at a Coldplay performance has generated countless memes and jokes – and now the Philadelphia Phillies are getting in on the action.

In footage shared via X on Friday, July 18, the baseball team’s mascots can be seen hilariously reenacting the infamous moment in the crowd as the Phillies faced off against the Los Angeles Angels.

Astronomer CEO Andy Byron, 50, and his coworker, Chief People Officer Kristin Cabot were caught on camera getting cozy at the gig. The “kiss cam” footage showed Byron with his arms around Cabot’s midsection when the cameras panned over to them in the crowd.

However, as soon as they realized they were being broadcast on the big screen, they immediately separated. Cabot attempted to cover her face while Byron tried to duck down out of sight.

Astronomer Announces New Interim CEO After Coldplay Kiss Cam Scandal

“Whoa, look at these two. All right, come on. You’re OK,” Coldplay’s Chris Martin said as the pair tried to hide their faces and escape the camera. “Either they’re having an affair or they’re just very shy. I’m not quite sure what to do. Holy s***. I hope we didn’t do something bad.”

The Philadelphia Phillies mascots reenacted this scene as cameras from the baseball game focused on them. “Either they’re having an affair or they’re just very shy,” a commentator said, echoing the same line that Martin previously uttered. Laughter from baseball fans could be heard as the moment played on screen at the sporting game.

Positing via their official X account, the Philadelphia Phillies captioned the footage, “Local CEO caught CHEATING at Phillies game?!”

Since the controversial footage emerged from the Coldplay performance on Wednesday night, the pair at the center of the scandal has faced the fallout.

Astronomer confirmed on Friday, July 18 via a statement to Us Weekly that Byron has been placed on leave in the aftermath and the company has appointed an interim CEO.

Who Is Andy Byron? Married CEO Caught on Kiss Cam at Coldplay Concert

“Cofounder and Chief Product Officer Pete DeJoy is currently serving as interim CEO given Andy Byron has been placed on leave,” the statement read. “We will share more details as appropriate in the coming days.”

Earlier that day, Astronomer made its first statement addressing the controversy.

“Astronomer is committed to the values and culture that have guided us since our founding,” the software company’s statement, which was shared via LinkedIn, read. “Our leaders are expected to set the standard in both conduct and accountability. The Board of Directors has initiated a formal investigation into this matter and we will have additional details to share very shortly.”

Us Weekly previously reached out to Andy and Cabot for comment.
