A southern Maine man was arrested early Wednesday morning in New Hampshire after allegedly driving over 100 mph and leading police on a chase.
A New Hampshire state trooper saw the speeding driver in a 2025 Volkswagen Atlas headed south on Interstate 95 in Seabrook, New Hampshire, at about 4:42 a.m.
The driver, later identified as Romario Linton, 27, of Berwick, Maine, was clocked at 116 mph in a 65 mph zone, according to New Hampshire State Police.
The trooper followed Linton’s Volkswagen and tried to make a traffic stop, but after initially slowing down, Linton sped up again and took Exit 2, police said. At the Hampton Toll Plaza, he made an abrupt U-turn, got back on I-95 south, and continued until Exit 1, where he lost control of the car, hit a delineator post, and stopped with a deflated tire.
Linton got out of the car and ran into the woods near the highway and was later taken into custody after trying to run across I-95 near Exit 1, police said.
Police charged Linton with two felony counts of reckless conduct with a deadly weapon and misdemeanor counts of disobeying an officer, resisting arrest or detention, and conduct after an accident.
He was brought to an area hospital to be evaluated for injuries from the crash, and then to Rockingham County Jail on preventive detention, according to police. Hen was scheduled to be arraigned in Hampton District Court on Thursday.
