MACHIAS — Downeast Restorative Harvest is excited to welcome visitors to the DERH Community Farm for Maine’s 36th annual Open Farm Day on Sunday, July 27, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 73 Broadway in Machias.
Open Farm Day is a beloved statewide event that highlights the vital role farms play in Maine’s food system and communities. DERH is proud to join farms across the state in offering a behind-the-scenes look at local agriculture. Visitors are invited to explore what’s growing, meet the DERH team, and learn more about this unique collaborative initiative with Healthy Acadia, the Washington County Jail, and other local partners — a partnership rooted in food, connection and community.

Downeast Restorative Harvest is a community farm initiative led by Healthy Acadia in partnership with the Washington County Jail, Department of Corrections, local organizations, and community members. The farm focuses on providing healthy, locally grown vegetables, fruits and herbs directly to the county jail’s kitchen, while also supporting food assistance programs throughout the region.
