16 and Pregnant alum Weston Gosa’s wife, Amy Gosa, has responded to his ex Whitney Purvis’ accusations about son Weston Jr.’s death and funeral arrangements.
“We’ve stayed quiet out of grief and respect, but I can’t continue to let false accusations go unanswered,” Amy wrote in a lengthy statement shared via Facebook on July 8. “Losing Weston has been the most painful, devastating experience of our life. He was our son. We loved him deeply, and we cared for him every single day.”
She added, “We were on top of his health, his medications, and his doctor appointments — paying out of pocket when insurance fell short, advocating for him and doing everything we were told to do medically.”
Amy further stressed that Weston Jr., Purvis’ eldest son with Weston Sr., “was not neglected” and loved. She claimed that his last doctor’s appointment took place on April 4, and he had another scheduled for June 6.

News broke in June that Weston Jr. had died at the age of 16. (Purvis, 33, and her ex also shared son River, while she is also the mom of son Collin, whose father has never been publicly identified.)
“This is so hard to write. My beautiful son Weston has passed away,” Purvis wrote via Facebook at the time. “He was only 16 years old. Life is so cruel and unfair. I just don’t understand. Oh, my baby is gone, and I don’t know what to do with myself. He was so perfect. This is really my worst nightmare come true.”
Purvis further claimed that her son had not been taking all of his needed medication amid speculation about Weston Sr. and Amy’s insurance holdings.
“There have also been rumors surrounding life insurance and funeral arrangements. Yes, Weston did have a small life insurance policy — but we were not the holders of that policy,” Amy said in her Facebook statement. “It was taken out by my husband’s mother when he was born and was only for $5,000. His funeral cost almost $9,000. We paid the difference as well as help from the GoFundMe, which was around $3,000 and handled all of the arrangements with love and care, as any parent would.”
Purvis had also alleged that her ex and Amy banned her from attending their son’s funeral, which the married couple staunchly denied.

“I also want to address the false claim that we did not allow his mother to attend the funeral. That is absolutely untrue,” Amy wrote earlier this month. “Whitney was told the correct time — not only by us, but also directly by the funeral director. She showed up two and a half hours late, and by the time she arrived, the service was already halfway through and the pastor was speaking. No one barred her from coming.”
Amy continued, “She simply did not arrive on time. We felt as though it was disrespectful to disrupt the middle of the service, especially as his biological mother, we feel as though she should have been on time or early for the viewing, not just the service. The hurtful and false claims being spread right now are deeply damaging — not just to me and my husband, but to the memory of Weston himself.”
According to Amy, she and her husband made a “guest list” for the funeral due to the public nature of his death.
“We did not want reporters or people we didn’t know showing up and taking pictures of our son’s dead body to post all over the internet,” she claimed. “He deserves to be remembered with love, not as the center of social media drama. … We are doing our best to survive each day with this hole in our hearts, and we ask for kindness, respect, and space to grieve.”
As for Purvis, she has been held in a Georgia jail since July 7. Us Weekly confirmed at the time that the MTV alum was arrested on charges including felony involuntary manslaughter and possession with intent to distribute controlled substances in connection with the recent overdose death of John Mark Harris. Purvis has not publicly addressed the charges.
