Nicki Minaj and SZA are struggling to see eye-to-eye.

Minaj, 42, took to X on Tuesday, July 15, to describe SZA (real name Solána Imani Rowe) as a far less-successful artist than herself. “SZA if every song you’ve ever done vanished right now the music business wouldn’t even miss you. I’ve been to countries that never heard of you,” Minaj claimed. “Btch [sic] what have you ever done besides yodel with auto tune that needed retuning?”

The “Super Bass” star was fired up after SZA, 35, seemingly responded to an earlier Minaj post, shared on Tuesday, that took a swipe at Top Dawg Entertainment president Terrence Henderson, per a report published by Billboard that day. (SZA is signed to the independent record label based in California.)

In the initial post that seems to have sparked the feud, Minaj wrote, “Yall remember that man from tde who kept bullying me on Twitter for no reason? We have the receipts … Ima call him “Minus 30 million” from now on.”

SZA’s X response read, “Mercury retrograde … don’t take the bait lol silly goose.” The post sparked a direct reply from Minaj, who shared it with her X followers along with the response, “Go draw your freckles back on bookie #JusticeForDemoree #DepositionPerez Liar liar pants on fire. Sounding like a [f***ing] dead dog.”

Minaj’s #JusticeForDemoree inclusion referenced a May lawsuit filed by Demoree Hadley, the daughter of Roc Nation CEO Desiree Perez, that accused Perez of orchestrating Hadley’s two-week stint in “mental health institutions for no legitimate reason,” per NBC Miami’s reporting at the time. (Perez “repeatedly” denied any wrongdoing, with the outlet revealing that the executive filed her own lawsuit against her daughter’s husband due to fears over Hadley being “at risk of suicide of abusing prescription drugs.”)

Minaj’s “dead dog” post seemingly drew return fire from SZA on Tuesday, with the singer sharing via X, “I wasn’t even talking about or to anyone. I had just got off stage talkin bout retrograde. F*** YES IM MAD NOW DO YOU NEED THAT !??”

The heated exchange then reached fever pitch with Minaj’s most recent X post. Besides criticizing SZA’s vocal talents, she commented on the two artists’ levels of success. “Did you look at the venues I played on my OWN headlined FESTIVAL tour out of the country last year?,” Minaj added. “Bitch have you ever headlined to 80K ppl?”

It continued, “Boo im an icon. You’re not. The end. You the type that would’ve been quiet in school trying to fit in. You still have no clue who you are! I know you went nights w/o washing that musty face. Btch [sic] how u remember exactly where every freckle go?”

SZA isn’t the only musician Minaj has taken on in a war of words. She shares notorious beef with Jay-Z both on and off social media, which is believed to have stemmed from their work together on Tidal, a music streaming platform Jay-Z, 55, founded in 2015.
