BANGOR — The Bangor Symphony Orchestra is pleased to  announce the appointment of Aimee Gerow as its new director of development, effective July 7.

“Aimee’s engaging and dynamic personality makes her a fantastic addition to the BSO team,” said Executive Director Renia Shterenberg. “Her extensive experience in the arts and nonprofit sectors positions her well to help us grow and thrive in the years ahead.”

A longtime member of the greater Bangor community, Gerow has spent more than 20 years  contributing to the region’s vibrant arts scene. She has held leadership roles at organizations  including Dirigo Pines, Ten Bucks Theatre Company and Penobscot Theatre Company, where  she successfully led teams, launched new programs and navigated complex transitions, such as software upgrades and public-facing events.

Gerow is a graduate of Ithaca College and the American Academy of Dramatic Arts and brings both stage and administrative experience to her new role. She has performed in productions ranging from Shakespeare to contemporary works and has appeared in commercials for local  businesses. Her career has been anchored by a passion for clear communication, problem solving and building meaningful relationships within the community.

“I’ve been involved in the arts community in the greater Bangor area for over two decades, from  performing to behind-the-scenes,” said Gerow. “I’ve loved seeing the opportunities and  resources for artists and audiences expand and flourish. I’m thrilled to begin this new chapter, working with the extraordinary team at the Bangor Symphony Orchestra to help contribute to its future growth.”

BSO Music Director and Grammy Award-winner Lucas Richman also expressed his enthusiasm about the appointment.

“It’s a real delight to welcome Aimee into our BSO fold,” said Richman. “Vaulting into this with years of experience in the performing arts, I know she’ll hit the ground running with an inherent  understanding of the value of building community relationships through the power of music.”

The Bangor Symphony Orchestra and Bangor Symphony Youth Orchestras are excited to  welcome Aimee Gerow to the BSO family. Founded in 1896, the Bangor Symphony Orchestra is one of the oldest continuously operating  orchestras in the United States. Through live performances, music education and community outreach, the BSO inspires audiences of all ages and enriches the cultural life of communities across Maine.
