An 87-year-old Aroostook County man remained in critical condition on Wednesday evening more than 24 hours after his ATV collided with an SUV in Cross Lake Township.
The crash was reported shortly before 3:30 p.m. Tuesday on Caribou Road, Maine Department of Public Safety spokesperson Shannon Moss said.
Based on an initial investigation, police believe 60-year-old Milan Bogdanovic of Fort Kent was driving south on Caribou Road in a 2018 Ford Expedition at the same time that Norman Daigle, 87, of Cross Lake Township was driving a side-by-side ATV in the same direction on an ATV access road.

Daigle merged into the roadway in Bogdanovic’s lane and Bogdanovic was unable to avoid him. The vehicles collided, and Daigle was thrown from the ATV, Moss said.
Daigle was brought by LifeFlight helicopter to Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor and remained in critical condition at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Moss said.
Bogdanovic was not injured in the crash, Moss said.
