ROCKLAND, Maine — Single-family homes assessed at more than $1 million were nearly unheard of in the city until this year.
But the frenzied real estate market of the past few years has resulted in a dramatic increase in the number of homes assessed at more than $1 million.
The preliminary figures from the revaluation by Vision Government Solutions for Rockland shows there are now nine single-family homes which will be assessed in excess of $1 million. This is up from one single-family home property last year.
The top assessed single-family property is a two-story home with a 3,829-square-foot footprint at 19 Samoset Road. The home is owned by a Jeffersonville, Indiana, couple. They also own three other homes on the Samoset Road with two of those permitted by the city to be non-owner occupied short-term rentals.
