We know the record breaking heat will just get worse, so think twice before you put your dog in the car. Is it safer and far more comfortable to let them be? If you do take them, prepare to do everything you can to give them a chance to survive.
Have plenty of water with ice cubes as they could help to bring their temperature down. Have a small cooler to keep in the car so they don’t melt and the water stays cool. Leave a gallon or two with you in case there’s trouble
Find a shady spot if you can. Keep your AC on but not on max. They are known to shut off and pets could die from accumulating heat. Leave every window down at least four inches, far enough so the heat has a way to exit. Also if they can get their noses out, it would help.
Remember to keep your time away short.
If this makes sense to you please share it! Pay attention; they’re depending on you!
