A man has been arrested in the shooting death of a 17-year-old in Lewiston nearly a year ago.
Nasib Aden, 23, of Lewiston has been charged with murder, according to Shannon Moss, a spokesperson for the Maine Department of Public Safety.
Aden allegedly shot Sahal Muridi of Lewiston about 10:30 p.m. on July 14, 2024, on Rideout Avenue, where police found his lifeless body.
The Maine medical examiner’s office determined that Muridi died from gunshot wounds to the head and neck and ruled his death a homicide, Moss said Tuesday morning.
The Androscoggin County grand jury indicted Aden for murder on May 6.
Police arrested Aden on June 11 in Fridley, Minnesota. He was extradited to Maine on Thursday and arraigned Friday in Androscoggin County Superior Court, according to Moss.
He has pleaded not guilty.
Aden remains at the Androscoggin County Jail in Auburn.
