BANGOR — On Tuesday, July 1 at 3 p.m., St. Joseph Healthcare will formally honor Bill and Marie Demaso during the Bill and Marie Demaso Building dedication ceremony, recognizing their longstanding support and impact on health and healing in our community. Building 3 at 900 Broadway, home to St. Joe’s Family Medicine, and Endocrinology and Rheumatology practices will be named in appreciation of their leadership gift to the system’s last capital campaign. This ceremony will also highlight how their support has strengthened care for families throughout our community. We invite community members to arrive by 2:45 p.m. to join us in thanking and honoring the Demasos.

William “Bill” Demaso and Marie H. Demaso were raised in Bangor, attended Bangor schools, graduated from Bangor High School and married in 1963. They are most proud of their three children and seven grandchildren.

Bill worked for 38 years in various leadership capacities at the Merrill Trust Co. and Fleet Bank. He later purchased and operated Norlen’s Water Treatment with his family. Marie also worked at The Merrill Trust Co. where she and Bill met. Marie later worked for New England Telephone.

Bill joined the St. Joseph Hospital board in 1994, and Marie served on the St. Joseph Hospital Auxiliary for several years as a volunteer.  Bill also served as the co-chair of the health system’s last capital campaign.

“Our livelihood and comfort have come from the community, so we have always wanted to reinvest in our community. St. Joseph Hospital has always been one of our favorite organizations.”

The care provided at St. Joseph Healthcare is essential to the health and well-being of our community. The Demasos’ generous contribution has made a meaningful and lasting impact on that mission. During the dedication ceremony, hospital leadership and community representatives will reflect on the significance of their support and the important role this new facility will play in serving our community for generations to come.

“Healthcare is delivered by incredibly compassionate professionals. They pour themselves into their work because they want to improve the lives of those they treat. Community leaders such as Bill and Marie Demaso demonstrate gratitude to those professionals by giving them the facilities and tools they need. These gifts extend to every member of the community who receives care delivered by these gifts,” said Greg LaFrancois, MHA, FACHE, president St. Joseph Healthcare.

St. Joseph Healthcare, a member of Covenant Health, was founded in 1947 by the Felician Sisters with a mission to support the overall wellness and healing of a patient’s mind, body and spirit. St. Joseph Hospital, located in Bangor, Maine, is its 112-bed acute care community supported by a network of primary care providers and specialists focused on delivering personalized medicine. The hospital is modern, accredited and offers medical, surgical, orthopedic, and cardiopulmonary care, laboratory services, physical and occupational therapy as well as a 24-hour Emergency Department and a Skin and Wound Healing Center. We employ more than 800 people in more than 30 departments. Our dedicated people extend the very best care to others by living our holistic mission each and every day…a mission that encompasses compassion, competence, and community.
