A Waterville man will spend 10 years behind bars for shooting and killing a man last year.
Tyler Quirion, 21, pleaded guilty in April to manslaughter in the death of 22-year-old Justin Iraola as part of a plea deal with the state. Quirion had initially been charged with murder and possession of a firearm by a prohibited person.
According to prosecutors, on Feb. 19, 2024, Quirion shot Iraola multiple times at close range with a 9 mm handgun on Grove Street in Waterville.
Iraola was reportedly shot and killed while trying to intervene during a fight after a party.
Quirion was sentenced on Friday to 25 years with all but 10 years suspended, which means he will spend 10 years in prison. Once released, he will be on probation for four years.
