WINTER HARBOR – Schoodic Institute’s Summer Lecture Series continues on Tuesday, July 8, with climate adaptation expert and podcast host Doug Parsons. His talk, “No Time to Wait: Science Organizations as the New Adaptation Leaders,” explores how science-based organizations can lead the way in responding to climate change.
Parsons is the director of America Adapts Media and host of the nationally acclaimed podcast “America Adapts – The Climate Change Podcast”. Through America Adapts, Parsons shares compelling adaptation stories from around the world — helping make climate science accessible and actionable. His upcoming talk at Schoodic Institute will draw on real-world examples and global storytelling to highlight the critical role that research organizations like Schoodic Institute play in preparing communities for a changing climate.
The role of science organizations has never been more critical, not only in advancing climate adaptation but also in helping communities understand why it matters now. Too often, adaptation is left out of climate conversations, yet it’s a vital part of protecting people, places and ecosystems from the impacts we’re already facing.
As the conservation science expert leading the response to rapid change, Schoodic Institute’s mission is to be a center for inspiring science, learning, and community for a changing world. This changing world is a common thread through all of Schoodic Institute’s work – and is at the heart of this year’s Summer Lecture Series.
Hosted in person at Schoodic Institute’s Moore Auditorium in Winter Harbor and online via Zoom, this annual series brings leading voices in science, conservation, and public engagement to Schoodic Institute’s campus.
