As the state representative for many towns in The County, at the heart of Maine’s potato country, I want to thank Sen. Susan Collins for her unwavering support of our agricultural community. Time and again, she has proven that she understands the needs of rural Maine and the vital role farming plays in our economy and way of life.
Most recently, Collins worked to restore funding for Maine AgrAbility, a program that helps farmers with injuries or disabilities stay safely on the job. That support directly benefits folks here in Aroostook County who work long hours in the fields and pack sheds to keep our potato industry thriving.
She has also been a strong voice for potato research funding, helping the University of Maine and local growers continue innovating and improving crop yields. Through her role on the Senate Appropriations Committee, Collins helped secure federal investments in PFAS research, rural development, and school nutrition programs that support local farms and families.
Sen. Collins knows that Maine’s farmers want fair support, smart policy, and a level playing field. Whether it is protecting trade access for our specialty crops or fighting for broadband in rural areas, she delivers.
We are fortunate to have a senator who listens, shows up, and gets the job done. On behalf of Maine’s potato growers and the hardworking families of northern Maine, I thank Sen. Collins for always having our back.
