When mom is sick, it’s Ms. Rachel to the rescue … even if you are Ms. Rachel.
“So, I didn’t want to try this yet, but I have horrible laryngitis and a horrible cough, and I’m not supposed to talk at all, and when I talk, I cough more and more and more,” Rachel Accurso, a.k.a. Ms. Rachel, explained in a video posted via Instagram on Thursday, June 26.
She then showed her baby daughter, Susannah, watching an episode of her “Songs for Littles” YouTube show, in which she helps young children with speech and language development.
Susannah smiled as her mom, on the screen, asked, “Hello! Can you say, Mama? Ma-ma. Ma-ma.”

“When you’re sick, baby is sick (pink eye and cough) and your other kid is sick… sometimes a moms gotta do what a moms gotta do! #msrachel #mama,” Ms. Rachel captioned the video.
In the comments section, she added, “Ok now I’m turning her away from it and lip synching it.”
Followers of the beloved children’s media host chimed in to share their thoughts on her sick-day decision.
“We’ve all turned to Ms. Rachel when we’ve needed a break. And now, Ms. Rachel is turning to Ms. Rachel when she needs rest!

Ms. Rachel announced in April that she and her husband, Aron Accurso, welcomed Susannah, their second child, via surrogacy. They also share a son, Thomas, 7.
“Sometimes timing isn’t what you plan and the road to get there is bumpier than you expect, but when you hold your little ones you know … I’m meant to be your mama,” she wrote via Instagram at the time. “I was unable to carry this pregnancy for medical reasons and we were blessed to have a surrogate who gave us the most precious gift possible. We are now all family forever. We have immense gratitude and a deep bond. It’s been a truly beautiful experience. I’m in awe of her.”
Ms. Rachel is a former public school teacher turned children’s YouTube star who set out to create a show that would help language development in babies, toddlers and preschoolers after her son, Thomas, struggled with a speech delay. Her channel, which she runs with Broadway music director Aron, has 15.3 million subscribers — and over 11 billion views. She also now has a Netflix deal, which includes four episodes of her show that use “interactive lessons [to] teach letters, numbers, colors, shapes, and more”.
“[My son’s] first word was at 2 years and 8 months and it was ‘mama’ and I had waited for that for so long,” Ms. Rachel told NBC News. “As a parent you want to do anything you can to help them and it’s not our fault when our child has a speech delay. A lot of things I teach are things I wish I had known for my son.”

The reason she created her show was because she couldn’t find anything like it when Thomas was struggling.
“I kept searching for this show for him and we couldn’t find it, so I was like, maybe we can try to create it and maybe it would help more kids,” she said.
Ms. Rachel now has millions of fans, a toy line and can be seen on Stonyfield yogurt boxes.
