Hulu is such a great platform for streaming all kinds of movies that you’re bound to miss several that deserve your attention.
Watch With Us has curated a brief list of three underrated Hulu movies to watch as June winds down.
Comedy fans will surely like The Bronze starring a Big Bang Theory alum, while more serious subscribers will enjoy the gravitas of Cyrus featuring Marisa Tomei.
Last but not least, we recommend you check out the little-seen 2024 thriller Skincare, which teams Elizabeth Banks and Thunderbolts actor Lewis Pullman in a suspense story involving cosmetics. (Yes, really.)
‘The Bronze’ (2016)
Do you ever wonder what happens to Olympic athletes after their careers come to an end? The unlucky ones end up like Hope Ann Gregory (Melissa Rauch), who feeds off her waning celebrity status in her hometown and steals packages from the mail to get by. When her former coach dies, she discovers he left her $500,000 — but she can only get the money if she can successfully train his best student to compete in the next Olympics. Hope’s a pretty rotten person now, but can she rediscover the fierce competitor she once was to earn the cash — and maybe redeem herself?

The Bronze is in the tradition of such hard R comedies like Bad Santa, Bad Teacher and Bad Words — politically incorrect movies with protagonists who aren’t all that sympathetic. The raunchy comedy works because of Rauch, who shows a meaner, funnier side that’s miles away from her work on The Big Bang Theory. Her Hope is pretty vile, but Rauch has enough charm to make you still cheer for her to succeed.
The Bronze is streaming on Hulu.
‘Cyrus’ (2010)
Some rom-coms have love triangles, but Cryus is one of the few that has one involving a man, the woman he loves and her overprotective adult son. John (John C. Reilly) still hasn’t gotten over his divorce seven years ago, so it’s a shock when he meets and falls for Molly (Marisa Tomei). They forge an instant connection, which doesn’t please Molly’s 21-year-old son, Cyrus (Jonah Hill). He’s on a mission to sabotage their relationship, and he doesn’t care who he hurts to get John out of his mother’s life for good.
Cyrus has a plot that could be played for all-out laughs like the Jennifer Lopez/Jane Fonda movie Monster-in-Law, but it’s subtler and more dramatic than that film. The movie plays it more or less straight, with all three characters possessing believable motivations for their actions. Reilly, Tomei and Hill are superb as lonely souls drawn together by their mutual need to be with someone, anyone, who can laugh at their jokes. The movie is pleasantly low-stakes, and if you feel like nothing much happens in its 91 minutes, well, that’s life for you.
‘Skincare’ (2024)
Skincare may be the first thriller of its kind — a suspense movie that hinges on cold cream and eyeliner. That’s a slight exaggeration, but the movie’s unconventional subject matter makes it stand out from the pack.
Hope Goldman (Elizabeth Banks) is a successful owner of a Los Angeles skincare clinic who is upset that a rival aesthetician, Angel (Luis Gerardo Mendez), is taking her clients. When her tires are slashed and someone seems to be stalking her, she hires a life coach, Jordan (Lewis Pullman), to help her — but his involvement only makes matters worse. Will Hope find out who is harassing her before her life is completely destroyed?
7 Must-Watch Hulu Thrillers on Right Now (June 2025)
Skincare is a straightforward thriller that eschews traditional violence in favor of psychological suspense. It’s more interested in focusing on Hope and her gradual breakdown as she compromises her own morals to solve her problems. Banks is great at showing Hope’s perfect facade cracking, and her scenes with Pullman have a sexual charge that makes you wish the director pushed it a bit further. Still, Skincare is satisfying, with a real-world ending that makes perfect sense.
