Michelle Obama is shutting down Barack Obama divorce rumors once again in her own unique way.
“The fact that people don’t see me going on a date with my husband sparks rumors of the end of our marriage,” Michelle, 61, said on the Thursday, June 26, episode of NPR’s “Wild Card” podcast. “It’s the apocalypse.”
Instead of posting every moment with her husband, the former first lady prefers to live in the moment and not worry about snapping a picture.
“It’s like, OK, so we don’t Instagram every minute of our lives. We are 60,” she joked to host Rachel Martin. “You just are not gonna know what we’re doing every minute of the day. Yes, I guess we are famous, but we’re 60. We don’t take selfies.”

According to Michelle, even her husband, 63, has some fun with all the chatter surrounding their relationship.
“Barack was joking, ‘You don’t even take pictures of anything we do,’” she said. “I was like, ‘I’m not thinking about a picture.’”
Michelle and Barack have been married since 1992 and share two daughters: Malia, 26, and Sasha, 24.
When celebrating his 32nd wedding anniversary to Michelle in October 2024, Barack shared a photo with his wife.
“Happy anniversary, @MichelleObama!” he wrote via X. “32 years together, and I couldn’t have asked for a better partner and friend to go through life with.”
More recently, the former president praised Michelle on Mother’s Day weekend, writing via Instagram, “@MichelleObama, the girls and I are so lucky to have you in our lives. We love you.”
This isn’t the first time Michelle has addressed rumors about her marriage.
After not attending President Donald Trump’s inauguration in January, the former first lady reacted to speculation that her marriage could be in trouble.

“Like, people couldn’t believe that I was saying no for any other reason, that they had to assume that my marriage was falling apart, you know?” Michelle said on an April episode of the “IMO With Michelle Obama and Craig Robinson” podcast. “It’s like, while I’m here really trying to own my life and intentionally practice making the choice that was right for me.”
As for how Barack and Michelle keep their bond strong, it all comes down to hard work and even a little couples counseling.
“Even when everything works out and you got everything right, it’s still going to be hard because now you’re developing a life,” Michelle shared on a May episode of “The Diary of a CEO” podcast. “I think that people give up too quickly on marriage because there is so much friction built into the equation.”
