Influencer Tanner Martin and his wife, Shay Wright, welcomed their first baby weeks before he died after a battle with colon cancer.
The couple revealed on May 15 that they welcomed their daughter, Amy Lou, while sharing a series of photos of the newborn. In one image, Martin, 30, cradled his daughter while Wright looked at the pair.
“Her daddy made it
,” Wright captioned her Instagram post at the time. The wooden birth announcement read, “Our little jiaozi has arrived.” (Jiaozi translates to “dumpling” in Chinese.)
Martin broke the news of his own death via social media on Wednesday, June 25.

“Hey, it’s me, Tanner, if you’re watching this, I am dead,” he said. “I had a heck of a life. I decided to make this video announcing my death because I saw someone did that, like, a year or so ago, and I think it’s a good opportunity to get all your thoughts out.”
He continued, “Life was awesome. I really enjoyed it while I was here. Hopefully, I believe there’s something after this. I’m excited to meet those people, and hopefully we’re hanging out now and making fun of all you nerds.”
Martin gave thanks to his loved ones and fans for their support and “helping to make the last years” of his life “fun and enjoyable” while also helping him feel “comfortable.”
In another Instagram post on Wednesday, Martin shared that his last wish was for fans to donate to a GoFundMe to support Wright and their child. Martin noted that the GoFundMe will help “replace” his income and pay for their daughter’s school and major life events.

Martin was diagnosed with stage IV colon cancer in November 2020. He has since taken to social media to document his journey alongside his wife. In November 2024, the pair announced they were expecting their first baby.
“It’s interesting because usually when people get pregnant they only have excitement for the future,” Wright told People at the time. “While we are definitely excited, we are also experiencing grief, fear and anxiety.”
Wright noted that their decision to expand their family was “massive” and took a couple years for them to come to terms with.
“As I’m a mental health therapist, I’m very aware of the research of child development,” she said. “But also aware of how to combat possible negative effects. But either way, it’s going to be hard.”
