Mainers’ eyes are on Newport native Cooper Flagg, who is expected to be the overall No. 1 draft pick this year. The 18-year-old phenom played one season at Duke University, helping the Blue Devils to a Final Four berth in this year’s NCAA March Madness tournament.
The draft begins at 8 p.m. Wednesday at Barclays Center in New York. The first round will be available to watch on ABC and ESPN, or on the ESPN app.
The second round of the draft begins at 8 p.m. Thursday, and will only be available to watch on ESPN or on the ESPN app.
Fans in Flagg’s hometown are waiting with excitement for Wednesday’s draft, and multiple watch parties are being held around Newport.
