A man was killed in a traffic crash Saturday morning in Patten.
The accident on Route 11, also known as South Patten Road, happened at about 9:30 a.m. when a GMC truck made a U-turn from a scenic turnout into the path of an oncoming Dodge truck, according to the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office.
The GMC was hit on its driver’s side. The driver, an 82-year-old man, was fatally injured. A child who was a passenger sustained minor injuries, was treated, and released.
The Dodge truck was carrying two adults and three children. All were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, the sheriff’s office said.
