Rumors have continued to persist over the years that Kristin Davis once dated her Sex and the City costar Chris Noth.
Davis shut down the speculation once again on the Thursday, June 19 episode of the “Are You A Charlotte?” podcast and touched on the cheeky photo she believes is behind people’s tongues wagging.
“No, we did not [date]” Davis, 60, said. “But there’s this picture that I understand… I totally understand why, why, why people would think that. I’m licking his face and, you know, this is the main thing I want to say. If I was dating someone, I would not lick their face on the red carpet, right?”
Davis recalled the photo being taken at an MTV Movie Awards event in the early 2000s that their fellow costar, Sarah Jessica Parker, was hosting and she and Noth were there to support her.

The podcast host added that she was actually seeing someone else at the time, who was also at the event but “obviously not in the picture, where I’m licking Chris’s face for whatever stupid reason.”
While Davis didn’t explain the exact reason behind the decision to lick Noth’s face, she addressed how “embarrassing” it is for that moment to seemingly live on in perpetuity.
“But it’s one of those things that you’re like, I had an embarrassing moment, and now it lives on and it’s really mortifying,” she added. “And I can’t explain it fully, except to say there’s a lot of young energy. So I understand why people think that [Noth and I dated]. No, I never did, and it’s just kind of embarrassing.”
During the podcast episode, Davis further insisted there’s no way she would pack on the PDA with someone she was actually romantically involved with at a work event.
“Like, for me there’s like a separation of church and state, right? So if you’re dating somebody you don’t go around with them,” she said.

The And Just Like That star admitted she has made that mistake — and ultimately regretted it — in the past. She explained it just adds “too much weird pressure” to the romance when a person is her date to a red carpet event too early on in the relationship.
“My general theory of the whole time that I’ve been in the public eye, or whatever has been: don’t take the people that you’re actually involved with out with you to events, right?” she continued. “Because that’s work. You’re working. You don’t necessarily want to parade them around.”
Sex and the City aired on HBO from 1998 to 2004, following Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker) and her three best friends’ single lives in New York City. Davis played one of the three friends, Charlotte, while Noth portrayed Carrie’s main love interest, Mr. Big.
