Jana Kramer’s now-husband Allan Russell was not put off by her past marriages.
“I knew you were an actress and a singer, but that was kind of it, really. I left it at that,” Russell, 44, said during the “I Do, Part 2” podcast on Thursday, June 19, after Kramer, 41, asked if he Googled her before they officially started dating.
Russell noted that “in no way did I do a deep dive” into Kramer’s life.
“I’m not saying I did little research, but I didn’t do a deep dive. People’s past is their past,” he added. “I always said this to you from the very beginning, it tells me your past was, it does not define what your future is.”

Russell didn’t spend much time looking Kramer up online because he knew she “was respected” in her career and was a “really great” mom.
“I wasn’t out there digging and searching for things,” he said. “I just wanted to get to know you.”
Kramer married her late first husband, Michael Gambino, in 2004. She has been open about the alleged abuse she experienced during their marriage, which ended the following year. (Gambino was convicted of attempted murder in 2005 and sentenced to six years in prison. He was released in 2010 and died by suicide two years later.) The actress went on to marry Johnathon Schaech in 2010, but their relationship only lasted a year. While she had a few high-profile romances in between, she married her third husband, Mike Caussin, in 2015. They welcomed kids Jolie, 9, and Jace, 6, before splitting in 2021.
The following year, Russell flew from his native Glasgow to America after sliding into Kramer’s Instagram DMs. Kramer made things with Russell public in January 2023, and they welcomed son Roman in November 2023. (Russell is also the father to a teenage son, Troy, from a previous relationship.)

Kramer and Russell first tied the knot in January 2024 before opting for a second wedding ceremony in Scotland that July.
“Yeah, we got married in January, and we made it formal to people in July,” Kramer admitted during a March episode of her “Whine Down” podcast. “We were desperate to marry each other.”
Thursday’s “I Do, Part 2” episode wasn’t the first time that Russell has addressed Kramer’s past love life.
“I didn’t do a background check,” he said during a May 2023 “Whine Down” podcast episode. “Once, I looked up who she was, I knew about [her] being an actress and in the music industry and that she looked like an amazing mom and had a couple of amazing kids.”
He added, “I don’t judge Jana on anything from the past. I don’t judge anyone on anything from the past as long as they show up for me and the people that I love and the people that are important to me.”
