Ginny & Georgia star Nathan Mitchell never thought he’d have to set the record straight on whether he’s a real person or AI.
Mitchell, 36, addressed the rumors that he’s not an actual human in an interview with New York Living on Wednesday, June 18.
“I am AI,” the Canadian actor, who plays Zion Miller in the Netflix series, joked when asked about the viral fan theories. “I’m actually a projection. I’m a hologram. It’s really advanced technology. Google’s new operating system.”
Mitchell said that he had seen the theories about him being AI, which began to circulate after Ginny & Georgia season 3 premiered on Netflix on June 5. Many fans believed that Mitchell’s skin appeared too clear and perfect to be real, while others thought he had robotic and unnatural movements.

“You look CGI, AI, or out of a video game this season,” one fan commented on one of Mitchell’s recent Instagram posts.
“Is it just me or Zion (respectfully) is so good looking he just doesn’t seem like a real person 
some scenes literally look like AI,” another user added.
Other fans compared him to characters from Grand Theft Auto or The Polar Express.
Addressing the comments about his appearance, Mitchell said in his interview, “It’s funny to be, like, scrolling through the internet, and being like, ‘That’s just my face.’ You know? I think there might be a setting on the TV that people maybe don’t know they have on that maybe, like, filters things.”
One of the hosts suggested a Zion filter on Instagram, which Mitchell thought was a great idea.
The interview put the AI theory to rest for many fans, but others were still on the fence.
“He’s just beautiful!! 
Not AI at all,” one user commented, while another fan wrote, “Hmmm idk you look diff in the show. On this season at least.”
“Man be too attractive it’s hard to believe his actually real,” a third person shared.
In addition to Ginny & Georgia, Mitchell is known for his roles on Angels in America, Arrow, The Tomorrow People, Timeless, iZombie, Supernatural, The Boys and more.
Mitchell isn’t the only Ginny & Georgia star whose appearance caused a stir among fans this season. Many viewers were distracted by the fact that Diesel La Torraca, who plays 9-year-old Austin Miller, no longer looks like a 9-year-old, as the now-14-year-old actor had a growth spurt while filming season 3.
“Playing a 9-year-old for six years when you are growing … I’ve grown with him, but I’ve also kind of departed from him because I was 8 when we started [filming season 1 in 2019], now I’m 14,” La Torraca told Teen Vogue in a June 5 interview. “There are a lot of differences in the way that he would move and act and speak. I have to heighten my voice register, slouch a little bit [to] feel like I’m actually a shy, insecure 9-year-old.”

Though many viewers have called for the recasting of La Torraca ahead of season 4, series creator Sarah Lampert exclusively told Us Weekly that won’t happen.
“Anyone who works on the show will tell you I am fastidious about the details. I am just specific with so many things. Then things like Diesel growing five years [older], I’m like, ‘Whatever.’ Because you can’t control it,” Lampert said. “We can’t recast. Diesel is Austin.”
Lampert added that season 4 will “lean into” La Torraca being a teen.
“There are a few jokes we’re planning to make. We’re aware that he’s growing up and that helps us,” she said. “Honestly, it serves us because now he’s really a part of the family in a way that he wasn’t before. He was just a little kid. Now with everything we put him through in season 3 and having him enter season 4 as a preteen, he’s entering the chat in a way that he hasn’t before.”
