New details are emerging following the untimely death of celebrity chef Anne Burrell, including where she was found.
Burrell’s husband, Stuart Claxton, reportedly found his wife lying unresponsive on the floor of their bathroom shower in the early hours on Tuesday, June 17, according to TMZ.
The outlet reported on Wednesday, June 18, that Burrell was “unconscious” when Claxton saw her in the shower. He reportedly last saw her alive around 1 a.m. and between six and seven hours later, Claxton called 911 to get help. (Police previously confirmed to Us Weekly that they were alerted to the scene at “approximately 7:50 a.m.” on Tuesday.)
News broke on Tuesday that the Food Network star died at the age of 55.

“Anne was a beloved wife, sister, daughter, stepmother, and friend — her smile lit up every room she entered,” Burrell’s family told Us in a statement at the time. “Anne’s light radiated far beyond those she knew, touching millions across the world. Though she is no longer with us, her warmth, spirit, and boundless love remain eternal.”
A 911 caller claimed that Burrell went into “cardiac arrest” and was “DOA [dead upon arrival],” a rep for the New York City Fire Department told multiple outlets earlier today.
The New York City Police Department, meanwhile, confirmed that Burrell was found unresponsive inside her home in Brooklyn, New York, on Tuesday.
A spokesperson for the department later told Us that the Worst Cooks in America host was pronounced dead “at the scene” after authorities responded to a 911 call and discovered “an unconscious and unresponsive” 55-year-old female.
The NYPD has since announced that an investigation is underway, and the cause of death is pending as the chief medical examiner investigates Burrell’s passing.

Burrell — who is survived by her mother, Marlene, and sister, Jane, as well as her husband, whom she married in October 2021, and his son, Javier — has been honored by several celebrity friends and fellow chefs in the wake of her death.
Longtime friend Rachael Ray, who was a bridesmaid at Burrell’s wedding, shared a statement on Wednesday, revealing the chef’s death has “truly shaken” her and her husband, John Cusimano.
“I can’t quite believe it — such a strong, vibrant, fearless woman, so full of life and love, could be gone so soon,” Ray, 56, wrote via Instagram. “Anne was a rockstar! I came to know her well through multiple seasons of Worst Cooks on Food Network, and she became so much more than a colleague.”
She added: “I’ll miss her friendship deeply. Everyone whose life she touched will miss her. Sending love to Stuart and everyone who knew and loved Anne. We’ve lost someone truly special.”

Food Network star Kardea Brown also felt the loss deeply, writing via Instagram on Tuesday, “In utter disbelief right now
