Anne Burrell had her husband, Stuart Claxton, on her mind in the weeks before her death.

“October will be four years,” Burrell told the Daily Mail in April. ‘It seems like it’s been four minutes. I don’t know if it’s a honeymoon [phase], but I feel like it’s settled into married life days which I really enjoy.”

During the interview, Burrell pulled back the curtain on her life with her husband — which included baked goods — and joked that she wanted to appear on Meghan Markle’s Netflix show. (Burrell and Claxton tied the knot in October 2021.)

“Sure, of course. I’d go to the opening of an envelope. Why not cook with Meghan?” she laughed, adding that she hadn’t taste-tested Markle’s As Ever jam. “I’m not really a jam girl. Occasionally I make them for my husband. I make scones and we have jam then. Other than that, I wouldn’t say I’m super jammy.”

Suzanne Somers’ Husband Shares Love Letter He Wrote 1 Day Before Her Death

Us Weekly confirmed on Tuesday, June 17, that Burrell died at age 55.

“Anne was a beloved wife, sister, daughter, stepmother, and friend — her smile lit up every room she entered,” the statement read. “Anne’s light radiated far beyond those she knew, touching millions across the world. Though she is no longer with us, her warmth, spirit, and boundless love remain eternal.”

After news broke of her death, a representative from the New York City Police Department told Us that they responded to a 911 call at “approximately 7:50 a.m.” on Tuesday which led to the discovery of an “unconscious and unresponsive” 55-year-old female. The Food Network star was pronounced dead “at the scene” in her Brooklyn home.

A cause of death is pending with the Office of Chief Medical Examiner. Authorities noted that the investigation “remains ongoing” and a 911 caller believes she may have suffered from cardiac arrest.

While authorities noted that Burrell was not named as the deceased, Us confirmed on Tuesday that her home address matched the residence provided by police in their statement.

Several stars have paid tribute to Burrell including TV chef and author Sandra Lee and Queer Eye’s Bobby Berk. The Food Network also mourned Burrell’s loss in a statement.

“We are deeply saddened to share the news that beloved chef, Anne Burrell, passed away this morning,” the network said via Instagram on Tuesday. “Anne was a remarkable person and culinary talent — teaching, competing and always sharing the importance of food in her life and the joy that a delicious meal can bring. Our thoughts are with Anne’s family, friends and fans during this time of tremendous loss.”
